Teenage Riot

I was walking through school today and a kid said "niiice" and pointed to my Beatles shirt. This kid is the classic rocker with his slim build, shaggy hair, and stereotypical diction of "man", "rock on", etc. spilling out of his mouth. And it made me think, why has rock seemed to have disappeared into the oblivion of pop and dub step. If you were to go back definitely to the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s you would see a substantial population of rockers, even in the 90s with the alt rock coming in, people still held fast to the rocker definition of not caring what people thought and doing what you want, wearing what you want, BEING what you want. Yet in the past ten years this way of life seems to have completely disappear. Today people only listen to what's on the top 40, and as one artist falls off the chart, they soon forget completely about the band or artist that they were totally in love with last week. With rockers, you find the band whose sound, lyrics, ideas, etc spoke to you and you stuck with that band even if they were no longer popular. As long as they didn't change their sound and the music still spoke to you, you went to their concerts, bought their albums (not just ONE song off iTunes, which is KILLING bands by the way, please by from record stores when you can, the people actually know what they're talking about). Just look at the dead heads, they are so loyal and followed the grateful dead from show to show because they wrote songs that spoke to those people ( as we see with Lindsey weir and Kim Kelly in freaks and geeks as the follow the dead with their new friends hitting shows all over the country in 2 weeks). Last time I checked, I could relate more to just having a bad day and it being okay like "I don't want to live today" by the ape hangers than these sugary pop songs about being in the club every night(and if you are a 17 year old like I am, I highly don't suggest unless you want to be a 17 year old with a beer gut...)
And when people start giving in to the conformity of pop, then record labels don't sign the rockers anymore, which is why we haven't seen a new rock band in a couple years. Luckily we have the classics keeping up and touring like the stones and Aerosmith, but we can't expect them to cover our asses forever. We need musicians who aren't afraid to challenge the pop artists and stand out!
So stop thinking like everyone else and think like yourself! Find yourself and find the music that will help you through the highs and lows through life.
Start a teenage riot!

These Shoes Are Made For Rock n Roll

I have always worn converse since I was a little girl. The blue, usually low top, converse that only get switched out when I grew out of the pair I had. I always wore my converse with jeans but I recently found a new pair of shoes that are just as rock n roll but a little more of a twist than the good ol converse. They're black flats with spikes all over and I'm in love. I definitely won't be forgetting my converse but these will definitely have equal wearing time as the old standbys.

Flowers and Bows, All A Girl Ever Needs

Hey Everyone!
So, I am so surprised I was able to find the time this weekend to post so I'm doing it as quick as I can before something comes up like usual!
So I've been doing the casual thing lately with my clothes, mostly because I've been accidentally getting out of bed later than intended and tights are hard work to get on in a hurry! I have on just a simple pair of jeans, converse, a blouse and a cardigan. I wore this to school the other day, which ended up being a good option considering there was a big snow storm by the time the final bell had rung :( I think I might've jinxed all of Massachusetts in my last post bragging about the weather.
Anyway, I really love this outfit because it's comfy and they just go together really well in my mind. Also, if you haven't noticed from my other posts, I'm kind of obsessed with navy blue. Navy blue cardigans, dresses, blazers, even my converse. My jeans are even a close match to navy blue wash.
So my inner beauty advice today is:(look in the next post for quote explanation;stupid formatting problems...)
Beauty is not real. Beauty only exists in perception
(explanation is in above blog post sorry for the inconvenience!)

My Hearts All Aflutter

Okay so I haven't been able to blog with all my school stuff lately. I was able to take pictures but not take the time to make a blog post of them! So the weather's been kicking up here. 50 degrees in February? IN NEW ENGLAND?! It sure is rarely heard of around here but its been great so far! I've been able to wear alot more dresses than I was able to last year simply because when I wake up in the morning and it looks cold outside, I don't really feel like throwing on a dress!
So this is a more casual look but the sweater just makes it look like you're at least trying!  I love the way this sweater fits me and these jeans are a great length and wash. They used to fit everywhere great but then I lost some weight so I need to work my jean magic to shrink them around but not lengthwise. (Which may be impossible sadly!)
So I wanted my inner beauty advice today to be:
Don't let the number on that tag, keep you from buying something or wearing the wrong size. Because (to refer to special K commercials) You're size sassy, radiant, CONFIDENT!
Whatever it may be, let your personality show, NOT your size! Because in my mind and the minds of many others, if your clothes have the best fit for your body, you instantly feel confident, and people WILL take notice. So don't squeeze into a small when you are a beautiful, vivacious, large.  OWN IT! As long as you are healthy and aren't risking your own health and safety with your way of life and eating, by all means show off what you've got.
Again comment with any questions, suggestions, anything! It's the only way I can give you give you guys exactly what you want!
Good luck with your fashion adventures and see you soon!
