Prom 2012 Part 2

Time for Part 2! Let's get started!

DEEP SWEETHEART, FULLY EMBELLISHED BODICE , ASSYMETRICAL
Sweetheart Deep Purple Papaprazzi Prom Dress $450*UPDATE* this dress was taken off the website unfortunately after I made this post. But I can't find a dress that was close enough to compare to it :(

Deep Sky Blue Sweetheart Chiffon Column Prom Dress $148

http://www.sino-treasure.com/Deep-Sky-blue-Sweetheart-Beads-Ruffle-Elastic-Woven-Satin-Chiffon-Column-Prom-Dress-p7386.html
So I LOVE both of these dresses (sorry about the pic quality of the second one!) I absolutely love sweetheart necklines and usually only buy dresses with sweethearts on them because they are so feminine and fun! But I love the color of both the dresses, along with the beading on the second and the full embellishment on the bodice of the first. The assymetrical chiffon of the second dress is awesome to me because it just makes the dress look more fun! I love both of them but the second dress is 302 DOLLARS LESS!? It's amazing! Either way you will look like a million bucks!

MERMAID
Jovani Jewel Embroidered Long Mermaid Prom Dress $589

Terani 95230P Strapless Mermaid Prom Dress  $298

2012 Jovani Red Mermaid Prom Gown $179

http://www.coralbuy.com/dress121726.html

So I DID choose 3 dresses for this one because the intial two I found I felt the second one wasnt as affordable as we would all like so I found another equally as awe-inspring, more affordable option. I like mermaid dresses for prom because there aren't many other occasions a girl gets to dress up this much when theyre constricted to an appropriate for the age dress code. To me, when you're a teenager, you're young and need to get all the crazy, on the edge clothing ideas you have out of your system. So dress a little sexier with this mermaid style and skip it on your wedding for a more mature gown. I've found that a lot of people get mermaid and drop waist confused. In my head, mermaid is very fitted to about 3 to 4 inches above the knee while drop waist is about 9 or 10 inches below your belly button. Between the two, I like the mermaid better, I honestly find the drop waist to not be very flattering on most types. It adds weight on the bottom half, so if you are top heavy it will balance you out and if you have absolutely no curve it will add on the bottom. It is stilll very risky and must make sure it fits absolutely perfect. The mermaid shows off and embraces your curves. (Who wouldn't want that?!) But I love all these dress but they were picked obviously based off prices. But I really can't tell from just the pictures which one is more expensive than the other; they all have different feels and emotions attached to them, they really can't be compared as to which one is better!

Prom 2012 Part 1

I've always loved looking at all the beautiful prom dresses this time of year. Which is what I did on Facebook almost all day yesterday as people posted new albums! Since I wasn't asked to prom this year, I've decided to go ahead and post about the most popular styles this year, my thoughts on them, my personal favorites, and a cheap and more expensive version of each perhaps! Along with these, I will post the most affordable sites I've found this season! And to not make this a really long post I'm going to combine a couple of the styles I've seen together within one dress.

OMBRE, ONE SHOULDER, SIDE SLIT
Allure dress "Night Moves" $298
Night Moves by Allure 6228 <em>Ombre Prom</em> Gown With Beaded Straphttp://www.bluegala.com/night-moves-by-allure-6228.html

Ombre Glitter Side Slit by DebShops $145

I really like both of these dresses in these colors but they both come in different colors for different tastes. I believe the top one is absolutely stunning with the draping on the sides and the embellishment, but for over 150 DOLLARS LESS you can get a very similar dress which I think is also very beautiful. I'm not a big fan of the side slit but because has the unexpected dark purple underneath the slit it looks awesome. The one shoulder strap look I also tend not to like but since the first dress does it with beading and embellishment, it becomes very feminine and I like it alot more than just a fabric one shoulder.

HIGH LOW
Flirt Strapless High Low Dress $498
Flirt P1683 Strapless <em>High</em>-<em>Low Prom Dress</em>http://www.onlineformals.com/product/FLIRT12-P1683/Flirt-P1683-Strapless-High-Low-Prom-Dress.html?meta=GBASE&metacpg=FLIRT12-P1683&utm_source=gbase&utm_medium=CPC&utm_content=&utm_campaign=FLIRT12-P1683
Onyx Dress, Strapless Sequin Tiered High Low $121

So I like the high low hem we've seen in spring fashion lately, but for prom dresses I didn;t really see much I was wowed by. Until I saw these, that is.  I love the colors of both of these and Ido like going over the top with my dresses which explains the first choice of frills and ruffles everywhere! But I think I like the Macy's dress better. It says look at me with the hem so I feel like maybe you don't have to be very much more over the top with the design and dress material, color etc. And considering it's about 460 dollars less it would be my choice anyway! This is Pretty Affordable Fashion isnt it?!

SHORT, Two Tone Tulle, Multi Color Embellishment
Sherri Hill Multi  Tulle Short Dress $450
Multi Tulle Sherri Hill <em>Short Prom Dress</em> 1477http://www.dressprom.net/prom-dress-sherri-hill-1477.html?productid=prom-dress-sherri-hill-1477&channelid=FROOG&utm_source=CSEs&utm_medium=GoogleShopping&utm_campaign=CSE
Two Tone Beaded Satin Tulip Dress $56
two tone beaded satin tulip dresshttp://www.debshops.com/two-tone-beaded-satin-tulip-dress/1000026947,default,pd.html?q=short%20dresses&pmin=70&pmax=80
I actually like A lot of these short prom dresses because they are very feminine, poofy, frilly, and colorful (right up my alley)! Unfortunately, these dresses look like prom dresses, which means I could not wear them anywhere else, otherwise I would buy them for another occasion because I must wear a full length gown to my next prom no ifs ands or buts! I like the two tone tulle look because its just as cool looking as it is to say! And i love the rainbow of beading on the black material of the first dress its so cool and edgy looking! Also if you are on a budget, the short dresses are perfect becaus ethey cost considerably less just because of the less material. So you can make a statement and save money! Perfect Combo!

Green Hearts And Just the Right Shoes

I was fixing my hair in this picture but I need a front view of the dress so enjoy the smiley face! :)

So for some reason I'm suddenly finding all this time AFTER vacation to post my pictures? Please someone explain this to me! Anyway we had beautiful weather for a couple days, but as any New Englander knows "If you don't like the weather in New England, wait five minutes". In a matter of a day it had become extremely cold and rainy, so I begrudgingly broke out my tights again and created this outfit. I really like it and think it will become added to the regular outfit ideas in my head. I love how the hearts on the dress and the shoes exactly match in color, but they're so small it isn't obviously "matchy matchy".
I also love the fit of this dress and the cool ruffle collar.
I want to talk about the power of shoes. These shoes are one of my all-time favorite pairs in my closet. They are really unique and just had to have them when I saw them in Provincetown this summer. They actually go with a lot because there are a mix of color in them. They are real leather everywhere, a stacked wood heel and SUPER comfy for a four-inch heel(which for me, is the absolute height limit). I love these shoes and when I have them on, the day is always awesome, along with my mood. I feel like certain shoes have the power to make you feel that awesome and, in my opinion, it should happen more often!
So comment on this or any post on this blog about any questions you have or anything else! I love hearing for you!

Easter Sunday (Yes I know I'm a little late...)

Okay so I planned on  posting everyday during my vacation last week but I never had time surprisingly! So I wore this dress Easter Sunday and I loved it! I usually don't wear white because I am so pale but I think with the sweater it's okay. So I've decided that my posts have become too long and ranty for some of you to bother reading so I've devised a plan. I think I will do inner beauty every couple posts so it isn't long everytime! So to be short and sweet, here are the pictures and I hope you have a fashionable day!

Saturday, March 17, 2012

this is the third time ive posted the beauty advice so here's hoping!

I chose this quote today because I feel that beauty is all based on the person looking in. For example, if a passerby looks at a magazine rack in the U.S., it is most likely to see the "california girl" as I like to call it. (and in no way is that meant to be a Katy Perry reference)
Anyways, it's a girl who is very slim, maybe too much for her own good, with bleach blonde hair and tan skin, as if she spends every waking hour of her existence at the beach. Now if we go to somewhere else, I'm going to say Mexico just as an example, they have full-figured women with mostly dark brown hair.
Now some American women (although I don't agree with them) will think "Why is she on the magazine cover? She obviously eats carbs!" And vice versa with women in Mexico.
What my point is here after that horribly long rant is that what beauty is to one culture, could be absolutely different to another. It all depends on the culture, heritage, and background of the society. What really matters is your personality.
now im hoping this post came through to you guys!

Flowers and Bows, All A Girl Ever Needs

Hey Everyone!
So, I am so surprised I was able to find the time this weekend to post so I'm doing it as quick as I can before something comes up like usual!
So I've been doing the casual thing lately with my clothes, mostly because I've been accidentally getting out of bed later than intended and tights are hard work to get on in a hurry! I have on just a simple pair of jeans, converse, a blouse and a cardigan. I wore this to school the other day, which ended up being a good option considering there was a big snow storm by the time the final bell had rung :( I think I might've jinxed all of Massachusetts in my last post bragging about the weather.
Anyway, I really love this outfit because it's comfy and they just go together really well in my mind. Also, if you haven't noticed from my other posts, I'm kind of obsessed with navy blue. Navy blue cardigans, dresses, blazers, even my converse. My jeans are even a close match to navy blue wash.
So my inner beauty advice today is:(look in the next post for quote explanation;stupid formatting problems...)
Beauty is not real. Beauty only exists in perception
(explanation is in above blog post sorry for the inconvenience!)

My Hearts All Aflutter

Okay so I haven't been able to blog with all my school stuff lately. I was able to take pictures but not take the time to make a blog post of them! So the weather's been kicking up here. 50 degrees in February? IN NEW ENGLAND?! It sure is rarely heard of around here but its been great so far! I've been able to wear alot more dresses than I was able to last year simply because when I wake up in the morning and it looks cold outside, I don't really feel like throwing on a dress!
So this is a more casual look but the sweater just makes it look like you're at least trying!  I love the way this sweater fits me and these jeans are a great length and wash. They used to fit everywhere great but then I lost some weight so I need to work my jean magic to shrink them around but not lengthwise. (Which may be impossible sadly!)
So I wanted my inner beauty advice today to be:
Don't let the number on that tag, keep you from buying something or wearing the wrong size. Because (to refer to special K commercials) You're size sassy, radiant, CONFIDENT!
Whatever it may be, let your personality show, NOT your size! Because in my mind and the minds of many others, if your clothes have the best fit for your body, you instantly feel confident, and people WILL take notice. So don't squeeze into a small when you are a beautiful, vivacious, large.  OWN IT! As long as you are healthy and aren't risking your own health and safety with your way of life and eating, by all means show off what you've got.
Again comment with any questions, suggestions, anything! It's the only way I can give you give you guys exactly what you want!
Good luck with your fashion adventures and see you soon!
